I wanted to create something that expressed how I felt about a certain point in my life. The idea started from thinking about the various defences animals have to protect themselves from danger, and I felt that the notion of defence or protection was something I needed to incorporate into this particular piece. I wanted something that appeared strong yet feminine, guarded but with the defences starting to break away.
