acrylic house paint / 72" x 60"
I spent the early formative years of my consciousness between a hospital and home, close to death. Death is my adviser and my creative companion. I ask the viewer to consider the transience of life in order for our culture to have a closer relationship with mortality, to enrich our humanity, and to reconsider how we exist in this world. I am inspired by poetic phrases and metaphors about living and dying. I embrace traditional and non-traditional materials and techniques. My work ranges from drawings to installations and object-based work. Like death, my work is unpredictable, unique, and very personal.
