Detriment to Our Ambient
porcelain, wood, digital image, Plexiglas, light / 60" x 29" x 22"
The constant struggle between humans and the natural environment has always invaded my thoughts. We have such an imaginative innocence as well as a destructive ignorance when it comes to our interactions with the natural environment. We constantly aim to rationalize, organize, and use the natural world for our own benefit. This hegemony has created a discontinuity between our current culture and a more instinctual mode of existence. Concepts around sustainability and wilderness as well as the construction of societies and cultures influence my work and enlighten my understanding of life.
