I am interested in exploring the world around me and seeing the unusual in the everyday. The excitement of looking at my surroundings in a different way and discovering the grotesque, beautiful, alien, attractive, and disturbing aspects of daily life intrigues me. The everyday and utterly banal materials that are completely vital to life—food in particular—attract me. I enjoy wielding the transformative power of painting and shaping this everyday matter into something rich and strange.
