This project consists of a series of interpolated digital images and embraces the characteristics of digital technology. Heavily influenced by the work of the Pictorialists, the image is a modern-day reflection of a transitional period in photographic history. By using digital manipulation, I was able to push the image away from traditional photography and toward the realm of art. Emulating the Impressionists provided photographers with a creative base to work toward and also gave critics a reference point to accept the images as art. Pictorialism helped define the boundaries for photography as it moved up the ranks into fine art.
