Urban Eating Kit
porcelain, sterling silver, stainless steel, maple, leather, cork / 7" x 6.5" x 6.5"
Stacked porcelain bowls and a set of folding utensils housed in the lid comprise the kit. Its construction uses a mix of traditional and high-tech methods: lost wax cast silver, slip cast porcelain, water-jet cut stainless steel, and leather. With proper care the kit could be used for a hundred years. Inspired by an exploration of food containers from around the world and driven by the needs of people eating meals away from home in an urban environment, this project embodies my beliefs that the objects we use should last with us and become repositories for our experience and memories.
