My work explores both the physical and interpersonal meaning of the term manipulation. The physical characteristics of a material and its attributes can convey an idea or provoke thought. The interpersonal definition refers to a devious or falsifying control that is personally advantageous to the manipulator. The media, advertising, and the individual are responsible for these coercive influences. These issues are addressed in my use of material and form while keeping in mind that each viewer’s interpretation will be subject to their own socio-identity.
