BAM! Is a painting based on a series that focuses on gestures and language depicted in different forms. The stylized comic font creates a curious dynamic between the two boys who are painted in a traditional rendering. At the time of creating it I was interested in using language and fonts to juxtapose meaning in imagery that either directly or indirectly relates to the subject. Combining formally traditional figures with contemporary language results in a humorous play on a popular gesture and a language.
