The idea behind this painting was to try to create something different than my usual small, coloured pencil illustrations of domestic objects and to do so by exploring abstract painting on a larger scale. And while this painting didn’t turn out the way I initially wanted it to in terms of appearance, the process of creating this painting, the constant self-doubting and self-editing, was a crucial reminder for me in learning to let go of my usual stringent aesthetic expectations.
