Picture Imperfect is a conceptual clothing brand exploring the control that media has over the lives of young women. The complete package contains a t-shirt with hidden self-reflective messages, a handmade tote, various posters, and tags. The t-shirt reads, “Two people in One. One for show and One to know.” My project is trying to go deeper than just “be beautiful.” Free yourself from ridiculous expectations. Accept and celebrate your imperfections. Not conventionally pretty? So what? We should all appreciate what makes us ourselves and not feel pressured to aspire to an illusory standard of artificial beauty.
