Triangle, Square, Circle: Patterns for Kids
100% cotton fabric, ink-jet textile print (one yard each of four patterns) booklet, 26 pages, 6" x 8" fabric swatches between pages, bound with a sewing machine by hand
This project started with a desire to make things for kids. I had an idea, founded in my own childhood, that formal qualities, such as line, shape, and pattern that surround children in their everyday lives, can be important factors in the way they play. I wanted this project to embody some of the insights I learned through my primary research with kids: subjectivity, exploration, playfulness, and intuition. The patterns, fabric, and booklet are the results of my research and explorations.
